If you’ve ever found yourself mindlessly scrolling on TikTok for far too long (haven’t we all?), chances are, you’ve come across a video of a seemingly perfectly curated home that you instantly want to copy. Personally, I have an alarming number of videos saved to my favorites so that I can go back and look at them when I need some inspo. There are obviously a few interior decorating trends that have continued to stay at the top, from modern farmhouse to mid-century modern. But in the past year, I’ve noticed another popular style that seems to be here to stay for 2022: jewel-toned home decor.
My TikTok, Pinterest, and Instagram feeds are filled with gorgeous furniture and home accessories in rich tones like emerald, sapphire, citrine, jade, and more. We’ve seen these jewel tones appearing on everything from stunning velvet furniture and eclectic area rugs to colored glass and bold bedding.
One of my favorite things about the jewel-toned home decor trend is the number of ways that it can be incorporated into one’s home. Sometimes, it naturally lends itself to a more eclectic look, but it can also be done in a more subtle way with a few statement pieces in a mostly neutral room. It can also be the perfect addition to a bohemian or MCM space, like with a statement velvet accent chair or couch (I know we’ve all had our moments of lusting after an emerald green piece of furniture).
