Gujarat’s Aatmanirbhar Gruhini Programme Promotes Women’s Entrepreneurship
The Gujarat Government has concluded the Aatmanirbhar Gruhini Karyakram, an initiative aimed at encouraging homemakers to explore entrepreneurship, build independent sources of income and access support available through government programmes.
The programme concluded in Ahmedabad on September 20, 2026, as part of the state government’s Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. The initiative focused on themes including “Vocal for Local,” “Ghar Ghar Swadeshi” and “Empowered Entrepreneur, Prosperous Gujarat,” placing women’s entrepreneurship and economic self-reliance at the centre of the programme.
Encouraging Homemakers to Become Entrepreneurs
The Aatmanirbhar Gruhini Karyakram was designed particularly to encourage homemakers to consider entrepreneurship as a pathway toward economic independence.
The programme was jointly organised by the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) and the MSME Commissionerate, under the World Bank-supported Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) programme.
The initiative brought together women interested in starting businesses and provided information about entrepreneurship opportunities, training, financing and government support.
Focus on Skills, Finance and Business Opportunities
Access to skills and finance is an important component of the entrepreneurship ecosystem. During the programme, officials discussed available government incentives and financial assistance that can help aspiring women entrepreneurs establish businesses.

The state’s Startup Gujarat platform also maintains a dedicated section covering government schemes for women, including entrepreneurship, financial assistance, self-employment and skill-development programmes.
Training Across Emerging Sectors
The Centre for Entrepreneurship Development has a wider role in providing entrepreneurship and skill-development programmes.
