India A beat Bangladesh A to win Women’s Emerging Asia Cup 2023
India A won the inaugural edition of the Women’s Asia Cup after beating Bangladesh A by 31 runs on Wednesday at the Mission Round Ground in Hong Kong.

By Sabyasachi Chowdhury: India A, captained by Shweta Sehrawat, became the champions of the inaugural edition of the Women’s Emerging Asia Cup. They defeated Lata Mondal’s Bangladesh A by 31 runs in the final on Wednesday, June 21 at the Mission Round Ground in Mong Kok, Hong Kong.
After being put in to bat first, India A scored 127 for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Skipper Sehrawat and Uma Chetry got scores of 13 and 20 before Nahida Akter and Rabeya Khan accounted for their wickets respectively
However, it was Dinesh Vrinda and Kanika Ahuja’s knocks that injected impetus into the Indian innings. Vrinda hit five fours and a six on her way to scoring 36 off 29 before Sultana Khatun got rid of her. But Kanika stayed not out on 30 off 23 with four fours.
Nahida was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh A after finishing with figures of 4-0-13-2. Khatun also got the wickets of Vrinda and Gongadi Trisha. Sanjida Akter Meghla and Rabeya picked up one wicket apiece.
Bangladesh lost the early wicket of Dilara Akter and they kept losing wickets. With their score at 66 for six in 13 overs, rain interrupted proceedings for a while.
After play resumed, India A did not allow their opponents to get a foothold back into the match. India A bowled the Tigresses out for 96 in 19.2 overs. Shreyanka Patil failed to open her account with the bat, but finished with figures of 4-0-13-4. She also ended the tournament as the top wicket-taker, having taken nine wickets.
Mannat Kashyap bowled with precision as she picked up three wickets for 20 runs. Kanika Ahuja picked up two scalps as well.
