India’s First Women’s Business Mela 2022 Ends in Bhubaneswar

The five-day-long extravaganza of India’s first Women’s Business Mela- 2022 organized by the Indian chamber of commerce entrepreneurship council ended on Sunday evening.
In an attempt to promote women’s entrepreneurship in the State, India’s First Women’s Business Mela 2022 was organised at Janta Maidan in Bhubaneswar from May 4 to 8.
The event was inaugurated by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. In a 5-day extravaganza, around 150 stalls were set up by women entrepreneurs with over 30 dedicated stalls for women entrepreneurs from SHGs and tribal communities.
Governor of Odisha Prof. Ganeshi Lal attended the closing ceremony and spoke about the special place women can create in society as well as get the equality they deserve.
Talking to India Today, Chidatmita Khatuam Founder of First Tribal Queen contest (Ad Rani) said, ”The mission of the Foundation is to explore the tribal treasure and specifically to empower the girls/women by showcasing their age-old heritage and cultural traditions while retaining their individual identity.”
Various other dignitaries, such as Odisha W& CD Minister Tukuni Sahu, Vidya Krishnan, Odisha state council chairman J.B. Pany, co-chairman M.K. Gupta, women entrepreneur’s convener Sukirti Pattanaik and co-convener Tanaya Pattanaik were present and discussed on women’s issues, success and opportunities in various sessions.
More than 100 stalls were set up and organised only by women entrepreneurs. Along with the selfie zone, a gaming zone and food court were also set up.
Also, various business seminars were organized for the development of women entrepreneurs. Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal, Director Imtiaz Ali, and motivational speaker Gauranga Das were the prime attractions of the event.
Self Help Group (SHGs) led by Mission Shakti were also actively involved in the mela.
They displayed several unique products that have received positive responses from visitors.
Tribal Entrepreneurs set up stalls at the mela. The overall inclusiveness of the event drew appreciation from everyone.
The organisers are also planning to conduct the event next year.
