Women’s Day: Why President Droupadi Murmu Is A Great Example of Achieving The Impossible
Droupadi Murmu is the present and the fifteenth President of India. She was formerly the governor of Jharkhand as well as an Odisha cabinet minister. Murmu was raised in a modest household in the isolated Mayurbhanj tribal division of Odisha. She has worked as a junior assistant for the state irrigation department of Odisha and as an assistant teacher.Now, she is the President of India.
On July 25, 2022, in the Central Hall of Parliament, Chief Justice of India NV Ramanna administered the oath of office to Murmu. Ram Nath Kovind, whose five-year term ended on July 24, 2022, was succeeded by her.
Droupadi Murmu is a representation of a strong Indian woman who triumphs over many obstacles in life. Her fight against hardships and personal tragedies has been continuous and persistent. She overcame all these challenges in her life. She has experience working in state secretariats, serving two terms in the legislature, serving as a minister in Odisha, and serving as an effective governor in a state with a predominance of tribal citizens.

President Droupadi Murmu On Women Empowerment
President Dropadi Murmu emphasised in a speech her journey from a small village to the highest position in the nation. She stated, “It is the power of our democracy that a daughter born in a poor house, a daughter born in a remote tribal area, can reach the highest constitutional post of India.”
When Murmu addressed the nation on the eve of the 74th Republic Day, she spoke about women’s empowerment and gender equality. Murmu said, “Women’s empowerment and gender equality are no longer mere slogans, as we have made great progress towards these ideals in recent years. I do not doubt in my mind that women are the ones who will do the most to shape tomorrow’s India.”
The president paid a 2-day visit to Nagaland last November 2022. At a government of Nagaland-organised public reception programme, she virtually launched 75 projects. Speaking to a sizable crowd there, she congratulated Phangnon Konyak on becoming the first female member of the Nagaland Rajya Sabha. She urged women in the region to step out and become more active in public life. She said, “If women are empowered, society has more development. Women lead with empathy and care, giving a new dimension to the development of society. Women lead with empathy and care, and they would give a new dimension to the development journey of Nagaland.”
