Harmanpreet Kaur Is Now The Most Capped Player In Women’s T20
As the only team to have beaten the women in yellow in T20 format this year, India is dominating in the ongoing T20 series against Australia. Further, it was team India that had already beaten them the year before. Harmanpreet and her side ended their fantastic winning streak by handing them their biggest defeat of the year by successfully chasing a mammoth 187 in the second T20. They managed a stunning victory by four runs in the super over.
The skipper Harmanpreet deserves a special mention for always guiding the team from the front and staying calm and composed under pressure. She presently holds the record for most appearances in a Women’s Twenty20 International. This feat was completed by her in yesterday’s match against the Aussies. She played her 140th T20 International. At an average of 27.36, Harmanpreet has scored 2,736 runs through 140 T20I matches and 125 innings. In this format, she has achieved a best of 103 and one hundred as well as eight half-centuries. She surpassed Suzie Bates of New Zealand, who previously held the record with 139 caps.
Harmanpreet just won her 50th match as captain of Women’s Twenty20 Internationals. Following Australia’s Meg Lanning and former England player Charlotte Edwards, she now has the second-most WT20I wins while also leading in WT20Is. The two of them are featured on the list equally (68). Only Edwards (93) and Lanning (92) have played more WT20I matches as captain than Harmanpreet’s 85.
